Mariko Ruth Yasuda, MD is a board certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist caring for adolescent and adult patients with medical dermatologic concerns.
An instructor in dermatology at Harvard Medical School and a staff dermatologist in the Department of Dermatology at Mass General Hospital for nearly a decade, Dr. Yasuda has taken care of patients with a wide range of skin diseases including skin cancer, psoriasis, acne, eczema, vitiligo and hair loss to hospitalized patients with life threatening skin rashes and blistering diseases with a range of systemic illnesses.
Dr. Yasuda is on the consulting staff at Newton Wellesley Hospital and is accepting new patients of all ages. She is thrilled to part of the team at DermWellesley and looks forward to continuing to treat patients in the local community.

Acclaimed Research for Alopecia & Hair-Loss Treatments
Dr. Yasuda has published in high impact journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Journal of the American Medical Association Dermatology and The American Society of Dermatopathology. Mariko co-directed an alopecia clinic at Mass General Hospital, where she focused on the treatment and education of patients suffering from complex hair loss disorders, including scarring and non-scarring hair loss.
One of Mariko’s most treasured aspects of her career is her passion for resident education. She was honored to receive the Mass General Department of Dermatology Teaching Award and then the MGH Department of Dermatology Sam Moschella Scholar Award for her commitment and devotion to educational pursuits in the residency program. Most recently, Mariko was chosen as a Faculty Co-Director for Dermatopathology Training for the Combined Harvard Dermatology Residency Training Program. She truly enjoys teaching dermatology and dermatopathology to the next generation of dermatologists. Given her background in dermatopathology, Mariko is particularly interested in the interpretation of skin biopsies and how it can help direct the diagnosis and management of cutaneous disease.
Dr. Yasuda completed an internal medicine internship, dermatology residency, and dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was awarded Intern of the Year and later served as chief resident during her dermatology residency. She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and is a graduate of Wellesley College, with a bachelor’s degree in piano performance and was the college’s concerto competition winner and recipient of the music department’s performance award.
