There’s nothing better than a chemical peel to rejuvenate, renew, and refresh your skin.  Time to learn more!

What Is a Medical Grade Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a skin treatment that uses chemical compounds to encourage your skin’s natural rejuvenation process. It exposes a new and fresh layer of skin by exfoliating and removing the outer layer of skin. At DermWellesley, we use a professional, medical grade peel systems that are exclusively offered at physician offices.

Our chemical peels are so effective that you will be able to see softer, smoother, and more radiant skin with just a single treatment. Peels can remove blemishes, reduce the effects of the aging process, and even out skin tone.

Chemical peels can be performed on the face, hands, chest, and neck. There are various levels and types of peels available at DermWellesley. During a consultation, we will evaluate your skin and recommend the right type of chemical peel for you.

Medical Grade Peels:

At DermWellesley, we offer several different peels based on your needs, concerns, and skincare goals.  After meeting with a member of our team, we can work together to determine which peel is right for you. Most patients will see optimal results after a series of peels, but results can be seen with just one. A peel can also be offered as an add on to a facial or even some laser treatments!

Mandelic Peel: This peel is perfect for sensitive skin and can even be used for skin prone to redness (or those with rosacea). It helps to reduce the appearance of redness, smooths the skin, improves texture and tone, and helps to minimize photo-aging.

Salicylic Acid: This peel is for acne prone skin and can be used on the face, back, or chest. It will help to improve skin clarity and reduce breakouts, remove excess sebum, and improve texture, tone and smoothness.

Jessner: This is the perfect peel for patients who would like to improve signs of aging and brighten sun damaged skin. This peel will help to reduce the appearance of brown spots, improve skin radiance, tone and texture.

Hand: This peel is for mild to moderate photo-aging of the hands. It will help to reduce the appearance of dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles on the hands. The skin will look brighter immediately afterwards. Try this on its own or combine this peel with Restylane Lyft for a complete hand rejuvenation!

Why Opt for a Chemical Peel?

The various benefits of a chemical peel include:

• Reduction of fine lines and photo-damage
• Treatment of sun-damage skin
• Reduction of mild scars and certain types of acne
• Reduction of freckles, age spots, and melasma (dark patches)
• Enhanced tone, texture, smoothness

Chemical Peel: The Procedure and What to Expect

The chemical peel procedure is simple and non-invasive. It involves the application of a special solution to clean skin usually for 1-5 minutes depending on the type of peel and your response.

Since the skin becomes temporarily very sensitive to the sun after a chemical peel, you must protect yourself from UV exposure. We encourage you to wear a mineral based SPF 30+. We ask that you stop any acids, retinoids, and acne medications for 48 hours before your peel and continue to hold them until approximately 3-5 days after your peel.

After your treatment, the layers of dead skin cells will gradually peel away. This exposes fresh, clear, bright, and younger-looking skin.
